A scientific approach for the conservation of the Guarneri ‘del Gesù’’

On the occasion of the Science Festival Bruce Carlson, violin-maker and curator of the ‘Cannone’, and Marco Fioravanti, University of Florence, Dep. of Wood Technology, will explain the results of the survey on the ‘Cannone’s’ characterization. This study is aimed at the analysis of the visco-elastic and mechano sorptive behaviour of the ‘Cannone’ . There will be a demonstration with the equipment used during the survey and the young violinist Damiano Baroni, before playing a short concert, will lend his violin for some practical example.
