PREMIO PAGANINI Newsletter Quarta Corda
After the Premio Yuki Manuela Janke, who ranked highest in the 50th Premio Paganini, played at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Berne on the occasion of the Bach Festival. The "Zentrum Paul Klee" in Berne brings together the biggest collection of works of art by the Swiss painter and is also a cultural and multipurpose center, designed by the Genovese architect Renzo Piano and inaugurated on June 20, 2005. Not everyone knows that Paul Klee, in addition to being a famous painter, was also a talented violinist and for this reason music figures prominently with an auditorium where concerts are held. Among the events planned, the Bach Festival represents one of the most important initiatives with a program that includes baroque music performed by some of the most promising young talents in the field of classical music, accompanied by the famous Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields. The main goal of the Festival is to facilitate meetings among young artists, as well as getting a young audience to appreciate the values and emotions inherent in Bach's music. Among the musicians who played, Yuki Manuela Janke performed on December 15th, playing Bach's Sonata in E major for violin and piano (BWV1016) and Bach's Trio Sonata for two violins, cello and piano. On December 16th, the violinist performed with her brother Andreas Janke, a semifinalist in the 2002 Premio Paganini, performing the Concerto in D minor for two violins and orchestra, while on December 18th, Yuki played Bach's Brandenburg Concerto. In March 2006, the young violinist will do a tour in Germany with the WDR Rundfunkorchester of Cologne, conducted by Michail Jurowski. On the program is Bruch's Concerto in G minor, op. 26, and the Concerto n. 2 in G minor by Prokof 'ev. On July 5, 2006 she will play the Concerto in E minor for violin, op. 64 by Mendelssohn in Osaka with the Osaka Century Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Yuzo Toyama. |
